چکیده

Abstract Penicillium rubens strain 212 (PO212) is an effective inducer of resistance mechanisms in tomato plants against Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. lycopersici . During the interaction PO212 with plant, different classes molecules may act as elicitors such certain secreted endo-xylanases. The aim this work was to elucidate possible role xylanolytic system its biocontrol activity. We identified potential genes coding for xylanases ( xlnA , xlnE xylP) β-xylosidase xlnD) and their transcriptional regulators xlnR araR ) PO212, evaluated patterns response root extracts or synthetic medium containing xylan main carbon source. For we compared data from those two strains Penicillium, P. S27, chrysogenum IPLA33001, lacking efficacy. Time-course experiments showed effect these sources on expression rates xylanase genes. To achieve a strong reduction genes, generated null allele XlnR, specific regulator pathway. Absence XlnR function prevented growth media source consequently, levels were downregulated. relationship gene regulated pathway efficacy biological control agent evaluated. Null did not reduce either disease severity incidence wild-type does. Thus, there between correct capability enzymes trigger plant defense systems F.

The development of genetic and molecular markers to register and commercialize Penicillium rubens (formerly Penicillium oxalicum) strain 212 as a biocontrol agent.

Penicillium oxalicum strain 212 (PO212) is an effective biocontrol agent (BCA) against a large number of economically important fungal plant pathogens. For successful registration as a BCA in Europe, PO212 must be accurately identified. In this report, we describe the use of classical genetic and molecular markers to characterize and identify PO212 in order to understand its ecological role in ...

Antagonistic Effects of Bacillus Species in Biocontrol of Tomato Fusarium Wilt

Fusarium solani is the causative organism of Fusarium wilt of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill). Four Bacillus spp identified as B. amyloliquefaciens, B. cereus, B. pumilus and B. subtilis were tested for biocontrol activities in vitro as zone of inhibition and in vivo as percent disease control and disease incidence. The result from in vitro analysis showed that B. amyloliquefaciens inhibi...

Integrated management strategies for tomato Fusarium wilt.

Fusarium wilt is caused by the fungal pathogens, Fusarium oxysporum or Fusarium solani. It is a devastating disease that affects many important food and vegetable crops and a major source of loss to farmers worldwide. Initial strategies developed to combat this devastating plant disease include the use of cultural, physical and chemical control. None of these strategies have been able to give t...

Characterization of Novel Trichoderma asperellum Isolates to Select Effective Biocontrol Agents Against Tomato Fusarium Wilt

The use of novel isolates of Trichoderma with efficient antagonistic capacity against Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici (FOL) is a promising alternative strategy to pesticides for tomato wilt management. We evaluated the antagonistic activity of 30 isolates of T. asperellum against 4 different isolates of FOL. The production of extracellular cell wall degrading enzymes of the antagonistic i...

Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi: Biocontrol against Fusarium Wilt of Chickpea

The present study shows the status of mycorrhization in three test varieties of chickpea. As the results revealed irrespective to the crops when arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) were assessed under the influence of soil quality better results were obtained with unsterile soil in comparison to sterile soil. Chickpea variety ICC 11322 showed the best result against the Fusarium wilt and chickpe...
